This offer is a dedicated, individualized retreat guided and supported by the Baker Road team. From a half-day to multiple days, we design the hospitality, guidance, and programming to emphasize all the deep reflection and restoration nature can afford.
Discovery Days serve as a focused retreat from your daily experience in life, allowing you to step back for a moment while preparing yourself to more capably step back in. Each retreat takes the unique shape of the participant, and includes preparatory, curious calls to ensure the best alignment for activities and often, integrated expert practitioners in different personal and professional development modalities.
Though Discovery Days can be designed for any destination, most are hosted in Knox County, Ohio, leveraging Baker Road’s existing amenities and deep knowledge of the area’s natural resources.
Mimicking the uncertainty of nature, participants receive guidance on any required preparation only 48 hours prior to their retreat. Additional details are intentionally withheld to increase the impact of the experience, encouraging our guests to step safely past their edge to explore what’s most important for them in the present moment.

On top of access to abundant natural resources and experiences, Baker Road has a full range of overnight accommodations ranging from camping set-ups, to a private retreat house and 3 hotel-style double occupancy rooms above our HQ on Main Street in Mount Vernon, OH. We leverage these amenities alongside a full range of experts in personal and professional development to support your Discovery Days adventure.

Our founder, Joe DeLoss, serves as our primary Discovery Days guide. Though he had a handful of social impact ventures beforehand, Joe’s best known for a restaurant chain he built and exited called Hot Chicken Takeover. The business gave him the privilege of leading nearly 1,000 people impacted by adversity, with plenty of lessons learned along the way. He's since found himself supporting high-impact leaders through crisis, growth, and ultimately, personal and professional transformation.
Joe’s open about his rough path to ‘success’ and the countless teachers he met as he sought a more contented, positive life experience thereafter. From mindfulness to philosophy to spirituality and psychedelics… there’s no shortage of great wisdom out there. Joe’s intent is to be a thoughtful companion and guide as you find your own compass out on life’s trail.

Discovery Day pricing begins at $1,500 and includes pre and post virtual connections to support planning and effective integration. Each Discovery Day is inclusive of all food, programming, and often, takeaway materials. Scheduling is generally 2-4 weeks out.

Following an inquiry below, a team member will reach out to learn discuss your intentions for potential Discovery Days. From there, the Baker Road team will offer you an invitation, parameters, and a time horizon for your experience.
